Parents Alliance Corner

“Nepali culture and language is key to the overall development of our children’s identity. Learning a language requires an environment that is supported by effective teaching and learning tools and teachers who are skilled in implementing them. Achieving that solely rests in our ability to pass a baton of Nepali language, culture, and other inherent cultural values to the next generation.

Nepali Class Boston Parents Alliance Corner (NCBPAC) was created on 25th of May 2017 to support Nepali Class Boston (NCB) in its pursuit of building a culturally and linguistically appropriate learning environment for ethnic Nepali kids in the heart of Greater Boston. Attaining that interactive, and effective learning environment was not possible without the participation of all Nepali parents. Therefore, parents of kids attending NCB united under an umbrella of NCBPAC with a sole objective of supporting NCB with resources required to function it smoothly. PAC, within two years, has become one of the pillars of funding. It has an ambition to continuously support NCB to develop it into a cultural and linguistic oasis for ethnic Nepali kids. PAC can not fulfill its duty without the support of all parents. PAC welcomes all the parents and guardians of NCB to a closed Facebook group for objective and meaningful interaction.

Meet our NCBPAC Members

Sajani Bajracharya, Year 7

Working closely with NCB Teachers and Volunteers has been nothing but a sheer joy as it gave me a very clear picture of what true leadership is and what NCB entails. The amount of time and effort these selfless volunteers put together in carving the class schedule and curriculum while keeping every single kid in mind is simply astounding.

I have seen the growth and cultural importance in both of my kids after joining NCB. It is a harmonious blend of culture, tradition and learning. NCB has opened the door to countless destinations the kids can explore and I feel extremely proud saying my daughters are on that journey. My oldest one has picked Nepal for many school projects and did her share of research, be it finding the facts about the current government, the rich cultural heritage, or even Mt Everest. She once was able to connect her last name with family and culture in writing the essay on herself. My little one has been humming Nepali songs and showing more and more interest in festivals. It’s an absolute joy to see our kids learning about our culture, proudly talking about their roots and singing the national anthem with utmost respect.

As a PAC member, we stand by our dearest teachers and be their extra hands whenever they need extras, facilitate the events they organize throughout the year, amplify NCB’s messages to the parents and sometimes work as a bridge between parents and teachers. It’s an honor to be a part of this amazing community and the least we parents could do to flourish this beautiful family. We are grateful for ALL that NCB has done to instill the Nepali culture and heritage in our kids.

Samundra Shrestha, Year 7

When anyone sees “Nepali Class Boston”, they might immediately think that it is just a Nepali school in Boston where parents pay money and kids just learn Nepali language. In reality, NCB is a purely volunteers-run program, free of cost, where kids learn not only the Nepali language but also directly participate in many rich cultural activities, traditions, festivals, etc.

In my last 7 years of experience as a PAC member, I found that NCB serves as a bridge to connect my kids to their grandparents who do not speak  English at all. I am also pleasantly surprised that Nepali Class has helped my kids with their identities: Who they are? Where their parents come from? Their history, etc. I am really proud that my kids are curious to learn more about Nepal and Nepali.

In the past, I saw many Nepali schools open in different states that closed due to lack of leadership, time management and location. NCB is the only organization that has strong and effective leadership, best time management practice and ability to adapt to adversities keeping it sustainable. Hats off to all the teachers and youth volunteers who are dedicating their time and hard work for our kids. So as a parent, I was motivated to support this organization in whatever capacity I could so they can continuously grow and flourish.

Biraj Gurung, Year 6

My utmost appreciation and gratitude to Nepali Class Boston (NCB). I have two daughters presently enrolled in NCB. As a parent, witnessing the progress and enthusiasm my 5-year-old child has shown in learning Nepali language and culture is truly inspiring. Thanks to NCB, after a couple of years of attending NCB, my 12-year-old can read and write Nepali now. Wow!

NCB’s unwavering dedication to excellence in Nepali language and culture education is truly commendable, and I am immensely grateful for the positive impact it has had on my children’s linguistic development and overall growth.

Once again, I extend my heartfelt appreciation to the entire NCB team for their unshakable commitment, passion, and expertise in providing exceptional education. My Salute to all the teachers, volunteers and the members of Nepali Class Boston Parents Alliance Corner.

Saurav Man Singh Basnet, Year 2

I had always heard positive things about Nepali Class Boston (NCB), and when my son finally started attending NCB, I was truly impressed by the dedication of the teachers and volunteers. Witnessing their commitment, I decided to contribute to NCBPAC (Nepali Class Boston Parents Alliance Corner), which serves as a bridge between NCB and parents.

The hard work, strong work ethics, and genuine love for children that I observed were truly humbling. The amount of preparation that goes into running classes and events is enormous. Each week, they face new challenges, from finding suitable class spaces to handling various aspects of organization. Despite these challenges, they always tackle them with a positive attitude and a smile.

Sharada Regmi, Year 1

When my son joined the Nepali Class Boston in 2022, I came to realize how much work goes in running NCB, what it means for kids and how big of an impact it has on the Nepali community at large.

NCB provides unparalleled learning and development opportunities to our kids. Kids not only learn language and culture but also gain shared experiences by participating in different programs such as Dashain Potluck and Parents Day event. These small and big opportunities throughout the year make them culturally aware and well-rounded. I've personally observed the progress in my child, and I am grateful to NCB for providing the opportunity to him and many other kids like him.

Seeing this group of passionate individuals, who work incredibly hard to run NCB, was a surreal experience for me. As a result, I decided to join NCBPAC and support this great organization in any way I can. Thank you NCB for the opportunity, and it is an honor to be part of this great community.
